Performer Biography

Brian Slawta

Brian Slawta, hailing from Bethesda, MD, is in his third year studying with Jeffrey Irvine at the Cleveland Institute of Music. Brian is currently a member of the Corylus Quartet as well as the Fae Trio at CIM. Before attending CIM, Brian was a member of the Liedergeld Quartet, one of the 2016 semifinalists in the Fischoff, St. Paul, and Misbin competitions.

Despite his dedication to chamber music, Brian is also an accomplished soloist, having won first prize in the Advanced Viola Division of the 44th Annual Washington Performing Arts Feder Memorial String Competition in Washington, DC in the spring of 2015. At summer festivals, Brian has had the opportunity to study with violists such as principal of the Boston Symphony, Steven Ansell, Mattieu Herzog previous violist of the Quatuor Ebène, and Mai Motobuchi of the Borromeo Quartet.
