Performer Biography
Moises Lopez Ruiz
Moises Lopez Ruiz is a flutist from Andalucía, Spain. He entered the music world fifteen years ago, when he was seven, under the instruction of James Gordon Lyman. A year later, he started his musical studies at Conservatorio Francisco Guerrero in Sevilla, where he studied flute for ten years with Jesús María Sánchez Valladares. When he was eighteen, Moises moved to the United States to continue his musical studies with Alexa Still at Oberlin Conservatory, where he earned his Bachelor’s degree with a major in flute performance, and a minor in baroque flute. Currently, Moises is working towards his Master’s degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music with Mary Kay Fink.
Moises has been a member of different musical institutions, such as Banda Nuestra Señora de la Soledad de Cantillana and Sinfonietta San Francisco de Paula. He also participated at the Early Music Young Performers Festival with the Oberlin Baroque on May 2017. Recently, Moises participated on the Concerto Competition at the Cleveland Institute of Music, where he received an honorable mention.
