Performer Biography

Micaela Murphy

Micaela Murphy, viola, holds a Bachelor’s Degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music, under the tutelage of Jeffrey Irvine and Lynne Ramsey.

She won 1st prize in the Ozark Festival Orchestra Concerto Competition and the Ozark Philharmonic Youth Orchestra Concerto Competition and also placed in the Ohio Viola Society Competition. She has participated in several summer music festivals, including Boston University Tanglewood Institute, Encore Chamber Music Festival, the Bowdoin International Music Festival, as well as receiving a fellowship at the National Orchestral Institute.

In addition to performing, Micaela also loves to teach and maintained her own private studio and still currently teaches in Ohio. In the future, Micaela aspires to become a member of a professional symphony and to become a viola professor.  When not practicing viola, Micaela enjoys running, baking, reading, drinking coffee, as well as spending time with friends.
