
On Valentine’s Day , our “Love is in the Air” program filled the afternoon with music celebrating love in all its forms—from tender affection to sweeping passion. The program opened with Elgar’s beloved Salut d’amour, setting a warm and heartfelt tone before dazzling audiences with Waxman’s virtuosic Carmen Fantasie, a thrilling showcase of fiery brilliance and dramatic flair. Lehár’s enchanting “Vilja Lied” from The Merry Widow offered lyrical elegance, while Debussy’s Petite Suite, brought to life by both pianists and dancers, added grace, charm, and visual beauty. The concert concluded with the timeless glow of La vie en rose, leaving listeners with a fitting reminder of love’s enduring magic. Along the way, audiences enjoyed a rich variety of musical gems, including works by Chopin, Popper, Offenbach, Schumann, Sibelius, de Falla, Bernstein, Weill, and Porter, making for a delightful Valentine’s celebration filled with unforgettable performances.
