Performer Biography
Masato Chang, violin
Masato Chang, age 20, from McLean, VA, has performed both solo and chamber music in the Weil Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall. He was the winner of the Music Teachers National Association for the state of Virginia, prize winner for the ENKOR International Competition. He was concertmaster of the Maryland Classical Youth Orchestra, and was involved in the National Symphony Orchestra Youth Fellowship. He has taken part in many summer festivals such as Summit Music Festival and the Heifetz Institute, and has had masterclasses with internationally renowned musicians such as; Hilary Hahn, Ray Chen, Shirley Givens, Nicholas Kitchen, Shmuel Ashkenasi, Mark Kaplan, and Jonathan Carney. After studying with world famous violinist and Curtis professor, Aaron Rosand, he is currently under tutelage of Jaime Laredo and Jan Sloman at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
