Twenty-one year old violist Julia Clancy of Shoreham, NY is enrolled in the double degree program between CIM and CWRU as a Viola performance major with Jeffrey Irvine and a Medical anthropology major at Case. As principal violist of Lorin Maazel’s Castleton Festival Orchestra, she has given performances in The Royal Opera House in Muscat, Oman, the Black Creek Music Festival in Toronto and numerous other venues.
She recently participated in the New York String Orchestra Seminar, culminating in two orchestral performances in Carnegie Hall under the baton of Jaime Laredo. She is substitute violist for the Cleveland Orchestra and performs in several orchestras in NE Ohio and Pennsylvania.

This past summer, as a member of the Viana music festival, she toured northern Portugal in collaboration with prominent European musicians, including the Carmina Quartet and the Zhunke Duo. This summer she will be performing in venues across Germany with the Moritzburg festival. As winner of the CIM concerto competition, she will perform as a soloist with the Conservatory’s orchestra this fall.
