Jared Blajian, cello, age 19, from Naples, Florida currently studies at the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of Dr. Melissa Kraut. Blajian has won the concerto competition at the Cleveland Institute of Music, as well as numerous awards from the Naples Music Club and the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra. He was chosen as a finalist for National Public Radio’s “From the Top.” He has won The Strings International Concerto Competition, and in the summer of 2009, he performed with Philadelphia Orchestra violinist Paul Arnold in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center. He has performed multiple times as a concerto competition winner with the Naples Philharmonic Orchestra.
Blajian has performed in masterclasses for Ross Harbough, Alan Stepansky, Soo Bae, David Requiro, Thomas Landschoot, Andres Diaz, and Ralph Kirshbaum, among others. He has also studied extensively with Udi-Bar David and Hans Jorgen Jensen, and received chamber music instruction by Cho-Liang Lin, Bonnie Hampton, Hiroko Yajima, and Peter Wiley. In 2013, Blajian participated in the New York String Orchestra Seminar, culminating with two performances at Carnegie Hall, and recently participated in the Music Academy of the West. Blajian performs on a cello crafted by Nicholas Frirsz in 2001 — generously loaned to him through the Cleveland Institute of Music, and made possible by Victoria McGinnis.
