Born in Brasov-Romania, violinist Diana Pepelea began studying the violin at the age of five under the guidance of her father, and subsequently won first prize at the National Music Competition in Deva, Romania at the age of eight. She has won numerous national and international competitions in her native Romania and made her solo debut with the Brasov Philharmonic at the age of 12. Ms. Pepelea has toured and held recitals all over Europe and the United States, recorded at the National Radio Station in Bucharest and performed as soloist on multiple occasions with the Arts Academy Orchestra (Brasov, Romania) and the Brasov Philharmonic.
Upon being awarded a full scholarship, Ms. Pepelea came to the United States to attend the Interlochen Arts Academy where she has served as a concertmaster of the Interlochen Arts Academy orchestra and earned two Fine Arts Awards in violin performance.
Ms.Pepelea received her Bachelor’s Degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music as a student of David Updegraff and a Master’s Degree as a student of Andres Cardenes. She currently performs with CityMusic Cleveland Chamber Orchestra, Canton Symphony, Blue Water Chamber Orchestra, Akron Symphony as well as the Sarasota Symphony, all while maintaining a private teaching studio.
Her summer chamber music and orchestral appearances include the Spoleto USA Festival Orchestra in Clarleston SC, National Repertory Orchestra in Breckenridge CO, Blossom Festival Orchestra in Cuyahoga Falls OH, the Mozaic Festival in San Luis Obispo CA and the Arthosphere Festival in Fayetteville AR.
