William Overcash is a classical violinist with a keen eye towards the development of music. Currently he is pursuing his Master’s degree at the Shepherd School of Music under the guidance of Kathleen Winkler. As a performing artist, William has presented music both new and old at significant venues, such as Carnegie Hall and the DiMenna Center of New York, Suntory Hall of Tokyo, and Jesse H. Jones Hall of Houston. In the traditional sphere, Overcash has participated in master classes with Almita Vamos, Jennifer Koh, Paul Kantor, Jorja Fleezanis, members of the Emerson Quartet, Pacifica Quartet, and Dover Quartet. Other highlights include winning the Grand Prize at the Tuesday Musical Association Competition of Akron, Ohio and performing on the Dannenburg Honors Recital of Oberlin Conservatory. In the future, he plans to further his relationships with living composers and fashion a place for himself performing contemporary and traditionally classical music. When not practicing or rehearsing, William enjoys different ways of making coffee, experimental cooking, and spending time with his two dogs, Rosie and Nina.
