Biography: Natsumi Shibagaki

Natsumi Shibagaki, a native of Japan, is a collaborative pianist currently making her home in Cleveland, Ohio. Ms. Shibagaki moved to the United States when she was 18 to attend the Interlochen Arts Academy in Traverse City, Michigan. She received both Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in solo piano performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, as a student of Mack McCray. She has participated in numerous competitions and international music festivals since arriving in the States. After graduating, she worked as a professional accompanist in the bay area of San Francisco. Natsumi moved to Cleveland in 2011 to pursue a Professional Studies diploma in collaborative piano at the Cleveland Institute of Music (CIM) with Anita Pontremoli, head of the CIM collaborative piano program. She was appointed to the CIM collaborative piano staff in the fall of 2013. In summer 2014 she attended the Music Academy of West in Santa Barbara as a collaborative pianist.
