Biography: Eva Kennedy

Twenty year-old violist Eva Kennedy is in her third year at the Cleveland Institute of Music studying under Jeffrey Irvine. She recently returned from a semester abroad spent at the Paris Conservatory, where she studied with Sabine Toutain. Eva is the recipient of multiple awards, including prizes at the at the Ohio Viola Society competition, gold medals at the Discover National Chamber Music competition and the St. Paul String Quartet Competition, and the Young Artists Initiative Award from the Ohio Arts Presenters Network. Eva was an avid participant in the Chamber Music Connection in her hometown of Columbus, Ohio from the age of seven. Through CMC, she had the opportunity to participate in masterclasses and residencies with the Cavani, Brentano, Guarneri, Emerson, Cypress, Jupiter, Fry Street, St. Lawrence, and Ying quartets, among others. In recent summers, Eva has attended the Heifetz International Music Institute, Bowdoin International Music Festival, and the North American Viola Institute. For the past two summers she has been a fellowship student at the Aspen Music Festival and School studying with James Dunham. Her interests outside music include hiking and feminism.
