Biography: Conrad Jones, Trumpeter

Trumpeter Conrad Jones, 21, began studying with Kevin Cobb at the Juilliard Pre-College on full scholarship in the fall of 2005. While at the Interlochen Arts Camp in 2006, he played for a live concert taping for PBS, and upon returning to New York, he appeared at Carnegie Hall. Jones is a winner of DownBeat Magazine’s Student Music Award in classical solo performance and jazz solo performance. He performed two seasons with the New York Youth Symphony (in both the jazz band classic and symphony orchestra) and one season with the Chautauqua Music Festival Orchestra. Jones is a founding member of the Kyodai Brass Quintet and FiveOne, Cleveland’s premier new music ensemble. Most recently, Conrad was a member of the 2008 Clifford Brown/Stan Getz All-Stars band, the 2008 Telluride Jazz- Allstars, a 2008 Yamaha Young Performing Artist, the winner of the 2009 Tuesday Musical Statewide Scholarship, and a 2010 Cleveland Institute of Music Concerto Competition winner. He is currently in his fourth year of study with Mike Miller and Mike Sachs at the Cleveland Institute of Music.
