“Classical Cabaret” Brings Musical Excitement to Chagrin Valley, July 17 and 23, 2015

The innovative Chagrin Valley concert group M.U.S.i.C. (Stars in the Classics) rolls out two new Classical Cabaret programs at Orange Village Hall, 4600 Lander Road, in July. Stars include members of the Cleveland Orchestra (Verditas Quartet), plus Zsolt Bognar (host of “Living the Classical Life”), piano, Stanislav Golovin (Uzbekistan), clarinet, Filip Lazovski (Macedonia), violin, Jung Oh (Korea), soprano, and virtuosos from top conservatories. The Classical Cabaret programs will be held on Friday, July 17, and Thursday, July 23, both starting at 7:30 p.m. Each program features different music, different performers, and music by Beethoven, Villa-Lobos, Paginini, Mendelssohn, and Brahms – with songs, tangos and fun.

“Classical Cabaret” gives music fans at all levels at new way to appreciate skilled young musicians and singers in unusual repertoire, says Jodi Kanter, artistic director of M.U.S.i.C..

It’s a fast-moving mix of performances with serious music, great food and drink and an opportunity to meet new friends.

The July 17 and 23 events at Orange Village Hall will be M.U.S.i.C’s 11th and 12th Classical Cabarets. Past Classical Cabaret stars include clarinetist Dmitri Ashkenazy, guitarist Jason Vieux, accordion superstar Julian Labro, and, celllist Brian Thornton and other Cleveland Orchestra members. The audience can enjoy food, drink and socializing before and after the concert.

“We’re especially thrilled to be holding these Classical Cabarets at the Orange Village Hall,” says Kanter. “There’s little separation between audiences and musicians in the beautiful, post-modern rotunda, and the acoustics are truly remarkable.”

Classical Cabaret No. 11 features Filip Lazovski and Aniela Eddy, violins; Sarah Toy, viola; James Jaffe and Ryan Louie, cello; Alex Liedtke, oboe; Henry Samuels, double bass; Zsolt Bognar and John Simmons, piano; Stanislav Golovin, clarinet; and Joshua Stauffer, guitar.

Classical Cabaret No. 12 features Yun-Ting Lee and Jeffrey Zehngut, violins (The Cleveland Orchestra); Amber Dimoff, viola; Daniel Pereira and Ryan Louie, cello; Zsolt Bognar and Natsumi Shibagaki, piano; Stanislav Golovin, clarinet; and Jung Oh, soprano.
